Raid Requirements

Necessary:
  • 1) Ventrilo: Absolutely required. If you have nothing else, you should at least have vent installed and ready to go before every raid. THERE IS A PASSWORD. Check the Guild Message of the Day for the current password. If you need help installing Ventrilo, Narse created a very easy to use Ventrilo Setup Tutorial. Alternatively there is a ZIP file for download here: Ventrilo Setup Tutorial.zip Simply follow the instructions in the Tutorial.txt.
  • 2) Omen: You only need one of these programs installed in your addons folder. These are extremely helpful addons that show you how much threat you are generating as opposed to the rest of the raid. Have it installed and make sure you are well below the tanks if you are DPS. If you are tanking make sure you are on top. Note: Omen is the only one listed now because KLH Threat Meter (KTM) is no longer compatible with Omen as of patch 2.4.
  • 3) Paladins only - PallyPower: Paladin buffing made easy. If all the Paladins in the raid have this addon and one of them is an assistant they can assign which Paladin gives what buff to what class.

    Recommended:

    Main Assist Macro:
    /focus [modifier:shift] target
    /target [no modifier:shift] focus
    /target [no modifier:shift, no modifier:alt] targettarget

This will create a focus target for someone in the raid. Usually this will be a hunter/rogue or some other pure DPS player (it is not recommended for tanks). You target that player, hold shift and press the macro button on your hotbar. Then when you press that macro button again without shift held down you will target whatever that person is currently targeting.

    Illhoof Targeting Macro:
    /cleartarget
    /target Demon Chains
    /stopmacro [nodead, harm]
    /target Kil'rek
    /stopmacro [nodead, harm]
    /target Terestian Illhoof

For the Illhoof fight in Karazhan things can get chaotic very quickly. This macro can help simplify things, please have it ready if you plan on raiding Karazhan with us.

  • 2) CTMod: A useful collection of Addons.
  • 3) Knowledge of boss fights. WoWwiki is an excellent source of boss strategies. While the raid leader will explain how we do each boss before the fight begins for new raiders, having a prior knowledge of what is to come in the fight is highly useful. Please note: we do not do every boss as described on WoWwiki, so if you have never downed a particular boss with us please speak up before we begin the fight.
  • 4) GroupCalendar: So you can see the times and dates of events that are coming up soon as well as sign up if you would like to attend a particular event. The program is not perfect, however, so if you either a) don't have the mod -OR- b) would like to guarantee your attendance, send a tell or mail to the event creator to sign you up.
  • 5) VisualHeal: allows the healer to see about how much their heal is going to give their target, and if other healers have the mod as well will show who will finish their heal first and about how much the other healer's heal will be heal the same target for. For tanks/dps, will show you if you are getting healed, and about how long it will take before the heal comes to you.
  • 6) Healers only - Healbot -OR- Grid -OR- Clique: all good healing addons that may be helpful to you as a healer if you happen to like them.
  • 7) Decursive -OR- SmartDebuff: Curative addons for any class that can dispel debuffs (e.g. Curses, Poisons, Diseases, Magic)
  • 8) Strongly Recommended - Deadly Boss Mods -OR- Big Wigs: Two very capable boss timer and warning modules about raid boss abilities or cooldowns.
  • 9) Non-Paladins - PallyPowerInfo: Monitor what blessing you are getting from which Paladin (with PallyPower).
